Many countries in Europe have seen extreme temperatures over recent weeks, including some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded in Italy and Spain, according to local meteorologists.

There have also been tens of large deadly wildfires in Algeria, France, Greece, Italy, Spain and Turkey that have disrupted residents, businesses and tourists and placed major burdens on firefighters, local governments and national governments.

Several leading climate scientists believe that climate change enhanced by human emissions is partly responsible for the adverse weather conditions and that the situation is set to worsen in the coming years — especially in the summer months.
